There’s a window of quiet that shows up before the world fully wakes. It’s soft. It’s slow. And if I’m paying attention, it’s holy.
This is where Morning Coffee with Jesus lives. Right in that hush—before the inbox, before the scroll, before the noise starts pouring in.
Not a Study Session. A Visit.
I don’t show up with highlighters and Bible study workbooks. Some mornings I don’t even bring a pen. I just bring my coffee, my tired eyes, and a heart that wants to listen.
It’s not about checking a box. Not about understanding every verse.
It’s about letting Jesus speak before anything else does.
I read a few verses. Sometimes out loud. Sometimes, just once. Other times, I linger on one line. There’s no agenda. No rush. Just a quiet openness to let the Word settle in and shape the way I walk into the day.
And you know what? That stillness changes me, not all at once. But little by little, it clears out the clutter I didn’t even realize I was carrying.
Before the Screen
I used to grab my phone first thing in the morning. Maybe you do, too. Check texts. Scroll headlines. Catch up on all the noise that happened while I slept.
But slowly, that habit made me anxious. Like I was running behind before I even got out of bed.
This rhythm, coffee and scripture first, flips that on its head. It reminds me that I don’t belong to the noise. I belong to Him.
Starting with His words helps me filter all the others that come later. And honestly, it makes me less reactive. Less tangled up in the drama of the day.
Don’t Overthink It
If this idea feels new or foreign or even a little “too spiritual,” that’s okay.
This isn’t some polished quiet time with perfect prayers. It’s just presence.
If you’re curious, but unsure where to begin, here’s a little nudge:
- Start with just 10 minutes.
- Open to Psalms, Proverbs, or the Gospel of John.
- Let the words wash over you.
- Don’t wait for the feeling. Just show up. God honors that.
Jesus doesn’t need your motivation. He just wants your heart, even if it’s messy, tired, or distracted, however it shows up.
Sometimes It’s Just Silence
There are mornings I read one verse and spend the rest of the time in silence. Just sipping. Watching the light change. Letting God sit with me.
Other mornings, I’m teary restless or distracted. Still, I show up.
Because consistency isn’t about performance. It’s about relationship. And honestly, it’s become one of the most grounding parts of my life.
It’s a Gentle Reset
When the world feels loud and fast, this small rhythm slows me down.
Coffee. Scripture. Stillness.
It’s not magic. It’s not mystical. But it is sacred.
Because starting the day with Jesus before the rush reminds me who I am. Whose I am.
And on the hardest days, that alone is enough.
☀️ So maybe tomorrow, just try.
Before the emails.
Before the headlines.
Before the scroll.
☕️Pour your coffee. Open the Word. And simply say,
“Jesus, speak before anything else does today.”
He will.
From my quiet corner to yours,
Bea
